I grew by taking risks with the use of oil pastel and baby oil. I didn't know if it would really work well and have the effect I thought would be best. I had never used oil pastel in an art project before, so that was new. I opened my mind to new methods of getting ideas as well.
If I could start again, I would choose a different idea. I would represent the downsides of war, and the feelings that these soldiers get. I would also use a glue gun to for the collage to stay on the paper. Thankfully, I did meet the goal and vision I had for this piece. My biggest risk was the different techniques and materials I used for the entire project: charcoal, baby oil, oil pastel, and collage, and in my opinion, it was a success, and I believe so, because it did have the flowing effect, and the contrast in colors did show the contrast in the personalities of both the fire-hearted, and the wind person. I chose to present it in my digital portfolio instead of physically, because the collage might fall off of it or get ripped off by people.
